Lucky Break in Three Card Poker I sat down and started to play. As is my custom, I only peek at the first two cards. Here's my reasoning: If I have a pair or better, I figure I will play the hand anyway. If I have two cards to a straight or two cards to a flush, I'll probably gamble and go in. And so, on this one particular hand, I saw a 8 of spades and a 6 of spades. I had bet $20 on the Pair Plus bet, and $40 on the Ante Bet. I turned my cards over, made the mandatory bet, and wondered if I would get lucky. Unfortunately, the dealer turned her cards over and showed three jacks, which as players all know, is a great, great hand. Now my mystery card couldn't be just another spade, because "trips" beats a flush in Three Card. It had to be the 7 of spades or I was dead meat. Boom! The dealer turns over
the 7 of spades; the only card that could have won the hand. I got
a straight flush. I couldn't believe it, but there it was,
in living color. After all the counting was done, I walked with
over $1,200. Not bad for a guy who was already a winner walking to the
parking lot! |
